Smartphone exports soar 39% from India, US shipments hit $965 million

[ad_1] Overall smartphone exports from India increased 39% year-on-year to $1.53 billion August 2025, while exports to the US specifically doubled to $965 million from $388 million in August 2024, said industry body India Cellular Electronics Association (ICEA) which represents Apple India. ICEA was responding with to claims from a report by trade research firm GTRI on Monday, declining US exports of iPhones falling month-on-month from India as an indication of slowing smartphone exports from India despite no tariff impact.The industry body countered claims of slowing exports stating that historically mobile phone exports slow down in August and first half September, citing data from the past five years.The period coincides with new model introduction from companies such as Apple. Global customers who are awaiting launch of new models, sharply reduce their purchase of smartphones during August. This leads to drop in exports, ICEA said.August and early September also sees large-scale retrofitting of plant and machinery to prepare for new models which leads to reduction in output, and in turn, exports. This is carefully planned to coordinate with demand.Live EventsCompanies also divert production to the domestic market to cater to the festive demand which surges during September and early October. Exports drop till early to mid-October since companies divert production to serve the peak in domestic festival-led consumption, ICEA said.“Every export sector has its particular nuances based on multiple factors. Oversimplification of trade data - and worse - inferences based on monthly comparisons is misleading and avoidable. Dumping probe begins into China CRNO steel imports

[ad_1] India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Cold-Rolled Non-oriented Electrical Steel (CRNO) from China on complaints by South Korean and Taiwanese steel makers.One of the complainants, POSCO Maharashtra Steel Pvt Ltd, is a fully owned subsidiary of POSCO Korea, while the other, CSCI Steel Corporation Pvt Ltd, is a subsidiary of CSC Taiwan. Organic goods exports can hit Rs 20K crore in 3 years: Piyush Goyal

[ad_1] NEW DELHI: India has the potential to increase exports of organic products up to Rs 20,000 crore in the next three years from Rs 5,000-6,000 crore now, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said Thursday."Currently, our organic product exports are at Rs 5,000-6,000 crore. In the next three years, we can easily achieve Rs 20,000 crore exports, about 3-3.5 times increase from the current level," Goyal said at the eighth edition of National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). The new regulations are aimed at enhancing clarity and transparency in organic product standards and aligning with global standards.Goyal said the global demand for these products is about Rs 1 lakh crore, which can grow up to Rs 10 lakh crore in the coming years and asked startups to come out with solutions that help in growth of the sector.
